Burleigh Heads on Australia’s Gold Coast is a seaside village midway between Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta. It is renowned for its great surfing conditions and has been host to international surfing tournaments. Burleigh Heads is a popular tourist destination and has a chilled out beachside atmosphere. **  Stroll through the Burleigh Heads National Park
To the south of Burleigh Beach is the Burleigh Heads National Park. This beautiful protected park is filled with bush trails and scenic walking tracks where you can stroll amongst the Pandanus Palm trees and rainforest and spot seabirds, brush turkeys and other wildlife. Admire the stunning views north towards the Surfers Paradise skyline. The National Park is easily accessed from most of the accommodation in Burleigh; it’s free and beautiful and is a great place to spend an afternoon whilst on holiday in Burleigh Heads.

**  Head to Tallebudgera Creek
On the southern side of the Burleigh Heads National Park runs the Tallebudgera Creek. The Tallebudgera Creek opens into a sheltered estuary where the creek meets the ocean, and where there is plenty of room for water based activities. The still waters of the creek make this an excellent spot for fishing, boating, swimming and kayaking. Tallebudgera Creek is a great spot for families with young children as the water is calm, sheltered from the waves and is quite shallow in places.

**  Check out the Burleigh Beachfront Markets
If you’re lucky enough to be holidaying in Burleigh Heads on the last Sunday of the month, then you can’t miss the Burleigh Beachfront Markets. A great day for families, the markets have heaps of stalls selling a variety of products including locally made arts and crafts, fresh fruit and vegetables, souvenirs of your Gold Coast holiday, jewellery, toys, as well as a range of international food stalls. Located along the Burleigh waterfront off the Esplanade in beautiful Justin’s Park, the Burleigh Art and Craft markets have something for everyone.
If you happen to be in Burleigh on any Sunday night, each Sunday evening before dusk in Justin’s Park is Burleigh Beat – a gathering of hundreds of people and families who get together to drum, dance, fire twirl, picnic and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

** Visit a Wildlife Park
David Fleay Wildlife Park is nestled in the bushland behind Burleigh Heads next to the Tallebudgera Creek, and is home to many native animals. Enjoy educational wildlife presentations, guided walks, and seeing many native and endangered mammals, birds and reptiles in a natural setting.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a research and conservation sanctuary in Currumbin, a short drive from your Burleigh Heads accommodation. Set amongst the rainforest, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has crocodiles, koalas, snakes, wallabies, wildlife shows, an interactive educational kids zone, bird shows, animal feedings, a treetop walk and more.

**  Burleigh parklands and beach
Burleigh Heads town and shops are separated from Burleigh Beach by a stretch of beautiful parkland. The parkland is a perfect spot for picnics and has free BBQ’s, children’s playgrounds and picnic tables, enjoyed by tourists and locals alike. Many of the apartments and hotels in Burleigh Heads overlook the parklands and beach, which is sheltered by the Burleigh Headland. Burleigh Beach boasts of white sand, a renowned surf break and patrolled swimming areas and is a lovely spot to relax on a sunny day.
