After leaving Ruffles Lodge take the normal route back to the Motorway if heading south. You stay on the Motorway until exit number 79 at Mudgeeraba, then cross over the Motorway to the west and follow the signs for Springbrook, route 99. A few places worth stopping at are firstly The Old Tea House if you are feeling it's time for a cuppa. (only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday). If you are interested in herbs then just across the road is Mudbrick Cottage Herb Farm run by Michael and Sandra. Also you Have Polly's Country Kitchen a little further on with its expanse of lawns that back onto the Little Nerang Creek (not open Mondays) but before you get there you pass Boomerang Farm 9 hole golf course. If you have ever played Golf you must stop and have a look at the club house, you will never have seen anything quite like it! From this point the road becomes very winding and there are single lane areas with no passing (driver must keep their eyes on the road). You pass through beautiful countryside and head into rainforest areas.

When you first reach Springbrook you pass the Gold Coast Hinterland's own Wunburra Lookout and Paddy Melons Cafe, a quaint place to stop for Devonshire teas or lunch. Once you enter Springbrook National Park and the Purling Brook Falls walk you have been driving for 55 minutes. The circuit walk is only 4kms and takes about an hour. It is one of the nicest short rainforest walks. The road south is ended by the scenic rim which separates Queensland from NSW like a great escarpment and the best way to view this is at "Best of all Lookout". Springbrook has a country village atmosphere although it is spread out. It has many tourist attractions such as Forest of Dreams glowworm tours and gallery, Kimba's Kitchen and if you prefer a more formal style of lunch there is Springbrook mountain Manor. For the return drive to Ruffles Lodge allow 1 hour.
