There is no denying the fact that Gold Coast is the most popular among all tourism locations in Queensland, Australia. The city is the second biggest populated center in the state, and the sixth in the whole of the country. With the right and attractive mix of nature setting and progressive development, nothing beats Gold Coast as a tourist destination for both international and domestic vacationers.

Geographically, Gold Coast is destined to mesmerize with its scenic beaches and views. The city is located at the southern portion of Queensland. Gold Coast is located to the south of the Queensland capital of Brisbane. Thus, the two cities are intertwined and with the presence of their respective airports, flights between Gold Coast and Brisbane are easily facilitated, to the advantage of the city's thriving tourism industry.

Tourism is the major industry prevailing and providing revenue to Gold Coast. Every year, there are close to about a million offshore tourists coming to Gold Coast. About four million domestic tourists and travelers drop by the city for overnight accommodations or visits. Because of this, Gold Coast is open to say that its tourism is its driving industry. State revenues are dependent on the revenue contributions from local cafes, accommodations and restaurants, which are all dependent on how voluminous Gold Coast tourism gets.

To the delight of tourists and vacationers, climate in Gold Coast is subtropical. Climate is classified as either hot and wet and cool and dry. In November and December and in April and May, the weather in Gold Coast is usually wet and hot. The real wetter season comes every January and March. During these months, cyclones are frequent and storms are normal occurrences, at times resulting to floods. Thus, tourists are advised to come over for a fun outdoor vacation throughout the year, except in the wet months. Winter is characterized by extreme cold weather especially in the upland and inland areas from May to September.

The Gold Coast coastline is long and interesting enough to entice more vacationers and tourists. Surf beaches are most popular. The most renowned of such Gold Coast beaches are to be found in Main Beach, Broadbeach, Main Beach, Mermaid Beach and Surfers Paradise. Inland beaches are also popular in Gold Coast like Harley Park Labrador, Boykambil, Jacobs Well and Paradise Point.

Events at Gold Coast are almost always organized by the state and by civic groups. Among them are car-racing event Gold Coast Indy 300, Magic Millions carnival and the Wintersun Festival, held in Coolangatta in June. Gold Coast marathon is also held every July. As for filmography, regular film fests are held at the Gold Coast Arts Centre in Evandale.

The most popular theme parks and national parks are also based at Gold Coast. Among them are Sea World, Wet'n'Wild, Warner Brothers Movie World, Australian Outback Spectacular, Fleays Wildlife Park, Dreamworld and Currumbin Sanctuary.
